Kathryn and Danny’s Intimate Elopement at Bayfront Marin House.
Kathryn and Danny’s Intimate Elopement at Bayfront Marin House is visually and emotional stunning. I love when I get the chance to photograph an elopement yet at the Bayfront Marin House in Historic St. Augustine. This elopement took place on a perfect October evening. The kind where the cotton candy clouds start to show up. I was a little nervous a few days prior because there was a hurricane sweeping through the panhandle of Florida and It could have been possible the rain would interfere with this wedding, but thankfully it did not. In fact the skies were beyond perfect and sooooo pretty. I normally hope I don’t have to use my flash much during a wedding because I really try to stick to using the natural light as much as possible if I can help it. We did just that.
And so we took pictures in the dark.
We did take some amazing sunset pictures but when the sun had set and left us, we were left to do some creative night portraits. If you know anything about me, then you know I am no stranger to the dark. I sincerely love photographing when the skies are dark and there is maybe a little bit of ambient light…. oh light the headlights of a car waiting for us to move out from the middle of the street? Yea, we did that too. Sometimes you gotta get a little risky and play chicken to get some dramatic street photography… am I right? St. Augustine lights up pretty well in the night so even if your camera doesn’t have a high ISO range to do night stuff, trust the ambient light. Well you also need to trust the chemistry between amazing newlyweds. That is really what cinematic like shots are all about. The realness and emotion that the image portrays. Aside from all this jazz, we had a lot of fun roaming the dark streets of St. Augustine and I wish these two love birds many blessings and happiness!
